NEW DELHI: With the ensuing war between the FIA and FOTA over the 2010 season, one could only hope that the British Grand Prix this weekend isn't overshadowed by controversy - after all this could very well be the last British GP to be held at Silverstone.
The Williams of Rosberg and Nakajima were fastest heading out of final practice, but qualifying is a different ball game altogether and thankfully all ten teams were out for the session.

As the lights went green indicating the start of Q1, the cars slowly trickled out on to track. After the 15 minute long session the two Force Indias of Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil were out.
One just has to wonder when Force India will start to perform better - even after the switch from Ferrari to McLaren engines for 2009.
Joining the Force India cars were the two Toro Rossos as well as defending Champ Lewis Hamilton. The Brit managed only 7 laps but failed to go faster than Sutil, Bourdais and Fisichella.
Q2 was a tough battle which seemed like it would be dominated by a fast Felipe Massa but the Brazilian couldn't manage to keep up with the rest of the field in the closing stages and ended up being relegated, not making it to Q3.
The others to drop out were Kubica, Kovalainen in the second McLaren, Piquet and Heidfeld. In a season that has seen major teams crumble ever since race 1, both McLarens, both BMWs and one Renault weren't going to make it to Q3 - huge disappointment especially to the Woking based McLaren outfit.

Q3 saw a big battle brew up between the Red Bulls of Vettel and Webber and the Brawn of Barrichello. In the dying stages of Q3, with time up and the last few cars just making it through for a final crack at pole position, Vettel emerged right on top snatching the top spot from a charging Barrichello.
Webber could have expected a better spot but had to settle for third after getting held up with mild traffic. Trulli put his Toyota in fourth ahead of Nakajima - who outqualified his Williams team mate Rosberg (7th) on the final lap to make a 5 place jump from 10th to 5th.
2009 sensation Jenson Button managed to qualify in 6th at his home Grand Prix. Glock, Raikkonen and Alonso finish the top ten places on the grid for Sunday.
It's going to be a memorable British Grand Prix with a lot of tension showing in the paddock. Questions will raised on the future of the sport.
Fans will be seen holding up placards showing their disappointment with the FIA. Speculations will rise about the legal implications of the situation that Formula 1 has found itself in. A lot is set to happen this weekend. Don't miss it!
